Morgen Young
Owner, Senior Historian

Morgen Young holds an M.A. in Public History, with a specialization in Historic Preservation. Her work focuses on the documentation and preservation of history, with an emphasis on architectural history and the built environment. In addition to her experience in historic preservation, Morgen has a background in 20th Century Native American history, working with Alutiiq communities in Alaska’s Prince William Sound, the Catawba Indian Reservation in South Carolina and members of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs in Oregon. Recently, she has curated several exhibits in Portland, consulting with organizations and individuals to best showcase their community and company histories.

Beyond Alder, she serves as the historian for FC Media, a Portland-based company dedicated to the preservation of soccer history. FC Media’s current focus is on the Portland Timbers football club and Morgen is overseeing a large oral history project with former players, staff and fans of the team.

Morgen is active in the history and nonprofit communities in Portland and Oregon. She currently serves as Chair of the Education Committee for the Architectural Heritage Center and the Bosco-Milligan Foundation. She is a board member for the Northwest History Network. She also works closely with the Historic Preservation League of Oregon and the Oregon Women’s History Consortium. In addition to her work in the Pacific Northwest, she is involved with the National Council on Public History as a member of the Consultants’ Committee.
